Standards and compliance

For workplaces, NOM-002-STPS-2010 (the Official Mexican Standard issued by the STPS, Mexico's Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare) sets the fire prevention and protection requirements. The design and installation of fixed systems use NFPA standards: 13 for sprinklers; 14 for standpipe and hose systems; 20 for fire pumps; 22 for water tanks; 25 for inspection, testing, and maintenance; 72 for fire detection and alarm; 96 for industrial kitchens; 11 for foam; and 2001 for clean agents. At CAAF de México, we design and install in accordance with NFPA and FM Global requirements and STPS regulations.

Yes. We hold an active membership in the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), which allows us to design and implement engineering solutions based strictly on international standards.

Yes. CAAF de México is registered in the REPSE (Registro de Prestadoras de Servicios Especializados u Obras Especializadas, the registry of providers of specialized services or specialized works) with the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (Mexico's Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare), registration number AR210703/2026. The Ley Federal del Trabajo (Federal Labor Law) requires this registration to provide specialized services or specialized works.

Yes. We work with certified and approved equipment from internationally recognized brands, such as Viking, Tyco, Victaulic, Notifier, System Sensor, Ansul, Kidde Fire Systems, and Fike, among others. The FM Approved, UL Listed, and NOM marks belong to each piece of equipment, not to the company that installs it.

Our staff has received technical training on NOTIFIER and Fire-Lite fire alarm control panels, and Xtralis factory certification in VESDA aspirating smoke detection, the OSID detector, and the ASPIRE design software. In addition, Clarke Fire Protection Products states in writing that we have trained and authorized personnel for the inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of its engines, in accordance with NFPA 20.

Maintenance

It depends on the system and on each component. For water-based systems, NFPA 25 sets inspection, testing, and maintenance frequencies that range from weekly to every five years, depending on the component. Fire detection and alarm systems are governed by NFPA 72, and industrial kitchen fire suppression systems are inspected at least every six months in accordance with NFPA 96.

Yes. Corrective and preventive maintenance is aimed at all types of industries and all types of fire protection installations. If you also need a review of the existing system, our consulting service offers diagnostics and an external, objective, and impartial view.

Yes. In addition to preventive maintenance, we perform corrective maintenance: inspection, cleaning, and replacement of components and equipment to keep the system reliable and operational.

Pneumatic and hydraulic tests, which verify pressure and leak tightness throughout the piping network; hydrostatic tests of the fire protection piping network; audibility tests of the detection and alerting system; and fire pump performance tests.

Both. Our design and installation service line covers the conceptualization and planning of fire protection engineering in accordance with NFPA and FM Global requirements and STPS regulations, as well as the installation of the fixed systems we specialize in.

We specialize in eight fixed systems: fire pump rooms, automatic sprinklers, standpipe and hose systems, foam suppression, clean agent suppression, industrial kitchen fire suppression, fire water storage tanks, and fire detection and alarm.

Drawings or sketches of the property, the use of each area, whether a system is already installed, and whether there are requirements from your insurer or from Protección Civil (the civil protection authority). If you don't have all of that information, write to us with what you have.

In a wet pipe system, the piping is always filled with pressurized water: when heat opens a sprinkler, water flows out immediately. In a dry pipe system, the piping is kept under pressurized air or nitrogen and the water waits behind a valve; when a sprinkler opens, the pressure drops, the valve releases the water, and it takes a few seconds to arrive. Dry systems are used where the piping could freeze, such as in cold rooms, and wet systems are the usual choice when the temperature allows, because they are simpler and respond faster. NFPA 13 limits the size of dry systems and requires verifying the water delivery time.

Civil protection

Yes. The letter of co-responsibility (carta de corresponsabilidad) is part of our Internal Comprehensive Risk Management Program (Programa Interno de Gestión Integral de Riesgos), along with risk identification and analysis, emergency response protocols, the operational continuity plan, and procedure handling and support before Protección Civil.

Yes. Emergency response brigade training covers first aid, firefighting, withdrawal to safe areas and evacuation, and search and rescue.
